49.37 minutes 127 average heart rate
I walked the whole way. I believe I went 3 miles...I need to measure again to make sure.

Saturday is a special day
I was out for 1 hour and 2 minutes and kept an average heart rate of 130. In that time I stopped and picked weeds on my MIL's grave and I stopped and fed the pigs on the way home...and filled their feed buckets with water...But I feel like I jogged more this time than last time. My recovery heart rate is getting better, meaning I drop down quicker than I used to when I stop jogging.

Just a start
My first post on my babble needs to be about my walk/jog I did this morning. I went about 3 miles in 46 minutes (that time included feeding the pigs and atempting to get the buckets out of the pen when I was done...but I gave up on that idea). My heart rate average for the whole time was 146 BPM. I have been struggling because it is my understanding that my target rate should be between 125 - 155 BPM. I can't jog and keep within my target rate. My heart rate goes up quite quickly to 161 and then up in the 170's before I give in and walk for a time until my heart rate drops down again. It is frustrating because Derek can jog a whole 3, then 4, and now 5 miles and keep his heart rate within his range. I don't know if I am doing something wrong, or if I am broken somehow. But I am determined to make jog/walking a new part of my life. I think I am improving. My inspiration came from Shauna's friend Marcie, she is also Josh's (previous)girlfriend's mom. She was over weight and started just a little bit at a time, and worked her way up, now she runs for fun, and does marathons and other runs on a regular basis.
I have always wanted to have runners legs instead of the drum sticks (as in from a chicken) that I have. I have never wanted to do what it takes to get them...I also hate running and always have. It makes me get a beat red face, and I was never able to run fast enough in HS and College to make "A's" on my fitness tests...I thought that was unfair! Still do, but that is besides the point. I have every reason to become NOT SEDINTARY, or I guess you could say, ACTIVE :) My family history is against me. ALL of my aunts and uncles on my Mom's side are over weight, have diabetes, thyroid problems, and heart disease. As does my mom. My siblings and I all have thyroid problems (except Pete) and 3 are over weight, one of those also has diabetes! I just don't want to go there. I have 8 children which leads me to believe I will have a few grandchildren, I want to be healthy enough to enjoy them. I wouuld also like to serve a mission with my husband. My natural tendancy is to be sedintary. I don't have much energy on my own, I can psych myself up to some energy if there is something fun or out of the ordinary out there for me to do. Perhaps I need to decide to do something fun everyday to keep me going!
I've said enough. I am going to blog my progress. My goal is to keep jog/ walking and improving my heart rate and increasing distance for a year...and then I want to continue after that...but I need to give myself a goal to look forward to. We actually started earlier in the summer, but just walking. We got inspired with the idea of training for a marathon after talking to Marcie and then getting a couple of books she recomended.
